Promote cost reduction and efficiency improvement in the logistics industry

Recently, my country's logistics operations have shown a steady upward trend, giving rise to the source of economic development and the growing vitality, providing a strong guarantee for the stable development of the economy. Data show that my country's logistics prosperity index reached 52.6% in October, 0.2 percentage points higher than the previous month. At the same time, most of the indexes showed a month-on-month upward trend and remained at a good level.

This year, my country's economic fundamentals are good and running smoothly. Thanks to the stock policy and a series of new policy measures, the logistics industry has continued to pick up, promoting the release of economic development momentum and vitality.

The continuous release of residents' consumption potential has provided a solid foundation for the stable growth of logistics demand. The popularity of online consumption has demonstrated the vitality of the new consumption model and provided support for the stable operation of logistics and economic recovery. With the arrival of the peak consumption season, major e-commerce platforms have launched promotional activities. Driven by policy activities such as the trade-in of consumer goods and the boutique consumption month of China's international consumer center cities, the potential of the consumer market has been fully released, and the demand for e-commerce logistics has grown rapidly. In October, the total business volume index of e-commerce logistics and the business volume index of rural e-commerce logistics have both increased significantly, setting a new high in the past five years.

The opening of key logistics channels has enhanced economic vitality at home and abroad. The General Administration of Customs has issued a new round of 15 key measures to support the construction of inland open comprehensive hubs and further promote the development of the new western land-sea channel. Chongqing Tongnan, as one of the world's three largest lemon producing areas, accounts for about 50% of the country's lemon exports. The new western land-sea channel can greatly shorten the transportation time to Southeast Asia. From January to October this year, the export of fresh lemons supervised by Chongqing Yongchuan Customs increased fivefold year-on-year.

Further reducing logistics costs and improving quality and efficiency are the key tasks for promoting high-quality development of the logistics industry. In the first three quarters of this year, the total social logistics costs reached 13.4 trillion yuan, and the ratio of total social logistics costs to GDP was 14.1%. The "Action Plan for Reducing Costs, Improving Quality and Increasing Efficiency in Transportation and Logistics" recently issued by the Ministry of Transport and the National Development and Reform Commission clearly stated that by 2027, transportation and logistics should achieve significant results, and the ratio of its total costs to GDP should be reduced to about 13.5%.

At present, favorable factors for promoting economic recovery are gradually increasing. Promoting the logistics industry to reduce costs, improve quality and increase efficiency will not only help serve the real economy, but also stimulate the release of new momentum, continue to stimulate market vitality, and work together to achieve the annual economic and social development goals.
