The General Administration of Transport recently held a national on-site promotion meeting on reducing costs, improving quality and increasing efficiency in transportation and logistics in Wuhu, Anhui Province, to comprehensively plan and promote this work, aiming to effectively reduce the logistics costs of the whole society and provide solid support for my country's high-quality economic development. Li Yang, Secretary of the Party Group and Deputy Minister, attended the event and delivered an important speech. The meeting highly praised the fact that in the past few years, the national transportation and logistics infrastructure network has been increasingly improved, the comprehensive transportation structure has been continuously optimized, the "one order system" and "one box system" of multimodal transport have been gradually promoted, the logistics and transportation organization model has been continuously innovated, and the international logistics channel network has been further strengthened. The work of reducing costs, improving quality and increasing efficiency in transportation and logistics has achieved remarkable results.


The meeting emphasized that we should thoroughly implement the important instructions of General Secretary Xi Jinping on effectively reducing the logistics costs of the whole society, and focus on solving the bottleneck problems and institutional obstacles in the process of reducing costs, improving quality and increasing efficiency in transportation and logistics, so as to create a new chapter in the high-quality development of transportation and logistics. We need to promote the shift from cost reduction in a single link to systematic and structural cost reduction, from simply reducing transportation costs to comprehensive cost reduction in the industrial chain, from focusing on hard connectivity construction to the coordinated efforts of soft and hard connectivity, and from focusing on domestic smoothness to efficient connectivity at home and abroad.


The meeting proposed that we must be determined in our goals, think innovatively, gather strength, and be down-to-earth to accelerate the networking of transportation and logistics infrastructure, strengthen the network and chain, promote the adjustment of transportation structure and the development of multimodal transport, promote the integrated development of transportation and logistics and all upstream and downstream links, support the innovative development of new formats and models such as smart logistics, build a unified and open transportation and logistics market, accelerate the construction of an international logistics supply chain system, and make every effort to promote the implementation of various tasks of reducing costs, improving quality and increasing efficiency in transportation and logistics.


The meeting also announced the first batch of special pilot projects for reducing costs, improving quality and increasing efficiency in transportation and logistics, and demonstrated typical cases and innovative experiences of reducing costs, improving quality and increasing efficiency in transportation and logistics. Representatives from ten units including Anhui Province, Liaoning Province, Jiangsu Province, Chongqing City, China Post Group, and China Eastern Airlines Logistics Co., Ltd. exchanged views.


In addition, heads from the National Railway Administration, the Civil Aviation Administration of China, the State Post Bureau, China National Railway Group, representatives from the Central Financial and Economic Affairs Commission, the National Development and Reform Commission and other departments, as well as the main leaders of the Ministry and the Department of Transportation (Bureaus, Commissions) of provinces, autonomous regions, municipalities, and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, as well as representatives from relevant scientific research institutions, industry associations and key enterprises attended the meeting.
