The Ministry of Transport announced the first batch of pilot projects to reduce transportation and logistics costs and improve quality

On November 13, 2024, the Ministry of Transport held a national on-site promotion conference on reducing costs, improving quality and increasing efficiency in transportation and logistics in Wuhu, Anhui, and announced the first batch of special pilot lists for reducing costs, improving quality and increasing efficiency in transportation and logistics. The meeting comprehensively planned and arranged the work of reducing burdens and increasing efficiency in transportation and logistics, aiming to help reduce the total cost of social logistics and provide key support for the high-quality development of my country's economy. It is understood that in the past few years, my country has been committed to building a convenient integrated transportation network, deepening the promotion of multimodal transport system, innovating logistics and transportation organization mode, and further improving the international logistics channel network, thus achieving a series of phased results.

The meeting emphasized that efforts should be made to solve the many bottleneck problems and institutional obstacles that hinder the reduction of costs, quality and efficiency of transportation and logistics, and jointly create a new pattern of high-quality development of transportation and logistics. This includes shifting from cost reduction in a single link to systematic and structural cost reduction, from reducing transportation costs to comprehensive cost reduction in the industrial chain, from focusing on hard connectivity construction to soft and hard connectivity coordinated operation, and from focusing on domestic smooth flow to two-way efficient connectivity.

In addition, the meeting also proposed specific measures, such as accelerating the construction of transportation and logistics networks, promoting the transformation and upgrading of the logistics industry, supporting the innovative development of emerging smart logistics and other business models, establishing a unified and open transportation and logistics market, and building a complete international logistics supply chain system, etc., to promote the full implementation of the work of reducing the burden and increasing efficiency of transportation and logistics.

During the meeting, the first batch of special pilot projects for reducing costs, improving quality and increasing efficiency of transportation and logistics were released, showing the successful cases and innovative practices of reducing costs, improving quality and increasing efficiency of transportation and logistics. Representatives from 10 units including Shandong Province, Liaoning Province, Jiangsu Province, Chongqing City, China Post Group, and China Eastern Airlines Logistics Co., Ltd. shared their experiences. At the same time, the participants also visited representative places such as Wuhu Port International Container Terminal, Chery Automobile Manufacturing Base, and Yangtze River (Wuhu) Shipping Element Market.
